ITALIAN GP - FRIDAY - PRACTICE SESSION 1 REPORT
McLaren on top at Monza
Pedro de la Rosa set the fastest time on Friday morning at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza, lapping the track 1.6secs faster than the nearest challenger, on this occasion Mark Webber in the Williams-BMW. The Australian was just a few hundreds quicker than Kimi Raikkonen with Juan Pablo Montoya just behind his team mate. Nick Heidfeld confirmed that the Williams is running well with the fifth fastest time ahead of Ricardo Zonta's Toyota and the BAR-Honda of Takuma Sato.
Michael Schumacher was eighth quickest for Ferrari with David Coulthard and Tonio Liuzzi in his wake but the relevance of the middle order was minimal as Renault, Sauber, Toyota and Jenson Button's BAR-Honda did not do any meaningful running, preferring to save their engines for the important action on Saturday and Sunday.
