AUSTRALIAN GP - FRIDAY - PRACTICE SESSION 1 REPORT
Liuzzi tops the bill in Melbourne
The first session for the Australian Grand Prix saw Red Bull Racing's Vitantonio Liuzzi beating McLaren's Pedro de la Rosa to set the fastest time of the session. A lot of the drivers did not do very many laps, an indication that the new engine rules are going to have an effect on the amount of time that cars are seen on the practice days. The fastest of the regular drivers was Juan Pablo Montoya who set a best lap of 1m27.425s, which was 1.4secs off Liuzzi's pace. The only incident of note was an engine problem for Indian Narain Karthikeyan. The two Minardi were not seen in action and politicking is continuing in the paddock.
