Reprieve for Nurburgring?

After Nurburgrimg went into administration last month, the Rhineland Palatinate state has injected capital to guarantee loans that the circuit took out as part of a big regeneration programme in 2009.

It is hoped that the 2013 German Grand Prix can go ahead as scheduled at the Eifel track after Bernie Ecclestone recently said that the event may have to be moved to Hockenheim.

With more than 20% of the current F1 grid from Germany (Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Nico Hulkenberg and Timo Glock) and a rich history, the German race is considered one of those that should be protected although both Nurburgring and Hockenheim have struggled to make the figures add up in recent years despite the home interest.
