Construction starts at new US GP site

Work has begun on constructing the circuit in Austin to complete it in time for the inaugural 2012 race.

The United States Grand Prix officials at Full Throttle Productions have gotten all the necessary planning permissions to begin construction on the site at Wandering Creek - south-east of Austin.

Race promoter Tavo Hellmund was on hand last week to oversee groundbreaking on the $250m circuit - the Hermann Tilke designed track will be built by Dallas based construction firm Austin Commercial, one of the largest in the state.
