FFSA aims for more races at Magny-Cours

The French motorsport federation (FFSA) says that it is hoping to organise a French GP in 2008, despite suggestions (from Bernie Ecclestone and others) that the race will not happen next year. The FFSA says that it has a contract until 2011 and wants to continue, despite the financial problems that the race has had in recent years. In order for this to happen there will need to be support from the local and regional government.

The FFSA says that the Conseil General de la Nievre and the Conseil Regional de Bourgogne have both pledged to increase their support for the event in order to enable the race to balance its books.

The FFSA has, however, also said that it is studying a series of other sites with a view to finding a more solid location for the race in the future.
