Rahal honored at Laguna Seca

Bobby Rahal, the three-time CART champion and former boss of Jaguar Racing, has been recognized with the naming of part of the Laguna Seca race track (now known as Mazda Raceway) after him. The section of track which goes uphill from the main arena and out towards The Corkscrew, via a high-speed kink will now be known as Rahal Straight.

"Laguna Seca has always had a special place in my heart," said Rahal, who won the CART race at Laguna Seca on four consecutive occasions between 1984-1987. "I've always loved this circuit. It is one of those tracks I've had an affinity for. I am truly humbled."

Rahal also won three CART victories at Laguna Seca as a team owner, in 1998 and 1999 with Bryan Herta and in 2001 with Max Papis.
