Hockenheim work to start on January 2

THE rebuilding work at the Hockenheimring in Germany will begin on January 2 with the $50m upgrading of the circuit which hosts the German Grand Prix. The work will involved the cutting down of a considerable amount of forest, which will cut the old track in half and completely change the character of the track. The work is being funded by the local government. The work will mean that Hockenheim can increase its crowd capacity to 120,000 people. The basic work will be completed in time for the 2002 race on July 28.
