Pollock steps down at BAR

CRAIG POLLOCK announced Monday that he will step down as Managing Director and Team Principal of BAR to pursue other interests. The announcement comes on the eve of the launch of the team's newly designed 2002 car, where a replacement for Pollock is expected to be announced.

"I am extremely proud of what has been achieved at British American Racing. I believe the foundations have been laid for great success," Pollock said. "All the staff have been fantastic to work with and I wish the Team every success for the future. For my part I think the time is now right to explore new opportunities".

As we reported on Saturday, David Richards, the commercial rights holder of the World Rally Championship, has stepped down from his day-to-day involvement in the organization of that series, possibly to rejoin the Formula 1 circus. It is now rumored to be announced Tuesday that Richards will take over for Pollock at BAR.
