Formula 1 loses its most famous fan

GRAND PRIX racing has millions of fans around the world but one of the biggest fans of them all was Beatle George Harrison, who has been attending one or two Grands Prix every year for the last 10 years. Harrison has died of cancer.

The Jordan team issued a press statement following the announcement of Harrison's death and flew the team flag at half mast.

The team described Harrison as "a friend and an inspiration"

Damon Hill said that Harrison was "an important figure and I consider myself very privileged to have spent time with him."

Sir Jackie Stewart, another friend, said that Harrison was "one of the most creative people I have ever met".
