Gene on top for second day in succession

SPANIARD Marc Gene branded his day "positive" after topping the times again in Wednesday's testing at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Gene worked with new developments on his Williams and he claimed it improved the performance after he ran 78 laps with a best time of one minute and 21.782 seconds.

"Today we finished the program as planned and so far the test has been very positive," Gene said.

"We made some progress on the tires and Michelin are working very hard. We are trying some developments and I have already seen some improvements in this area."

Benetton's Jenson Button finished half-a-second down on Gene, while the Enstone-based team's test driver Mark Webber was more than a second slower.
