Zonta quickest for Jordan at day one of Silverstone test
Brazilian Zonta continued work on Jordan's traction control system, which appeared to let driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen down at last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix when he was slow off the grid.
Zonta was fractionally quicker than British American Racing driver Olivier Panis, who was joined at the test by BAR test-driver Darren Manning and development driver and British Formula Three competitor Takuma Sato.
Briton Manning propped up the timesheet, over two seconds slower than Zonta, while Japanese Sato was a respectable fourth in the times behind third placed Kimi Raikkonen in a Sauber.
Sato beat Arrows drivers Enrique Bernoldi and Jos Verstappen, who were fifth and sixth respectively as they worked on set-up for the Austrian Grand Prix on May 13.
