Schumacher continues dominance at Jerez

GERMAN Ralf Schumacher continued his dominance on the second day of testing at Jerez on Tuesday as he powered his BMW-Williams to the top of the timesheets.

Schumacher, testing 2001 components, posted a quickest lap time of one minute and 23.159 seconds as he outpaced Benetton's Giancarlo Fisichella for the second day running.

Italian Fisichella was almost one second down on the German driver after his session was interrupted by a downpour, while Spaniard Marc Gene and Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya completed the running.

"I'm very satisfied today," Gene said. "The BMW engine is really good. It was the first time that we tested it properly and we had no problems at all."

Briton Jenson Button enjoyed a day-off but the youngster will return to the track for the final day of testing on Wednesday when a new Renault engine arrives.
