Bigois to Honda!

Williams F1's chief aerodynamicist Loic Bigois is leaving the team and will become the new chief aerodynamicist at Honda Racing F1.

Williams F1's chief aerodynamicist Loic Bigois is leaving the team and will become the new chief aerodynamicist at Honda Racing F1.

Bigois has been in F1 for 17 years, starting out with Ligier, which recruited him from a stellar career in the aerospace industry. After working with Frank Dernie in the early years, Bigois stayed on after the team was sold and Gerard Ducarouge moved in at Magny-Cours. In 1994 the team was taken over by Flavio Briatore and Bigois decided it was time to leave and go to Sauber. where he worked for Andre de Cortanze. Ironically, de Cortanze was then hired by Ligier and took Bigois back with him but in 1996 de Cortanze was ousted and Bigois became the team's last technical director. When Alain Prost bought Ligier, Bigois switched to the role of chief designer and stayed there until the team closed and he went on to Minardi for a couple of years before being hired by Williams in the summer of 2003. He has been chief aerodynamicist ever since.

Bigois is the latest recruit for Honda, which is completely rebuilding its aerodynamic team following the disappointments of this year's car.

More recruitments are expected.
